Wine Wednesday
This week feature is Layer Cake.
I had this wine awhile ago at a wine tasting and remembered liking it. So yesterday after work I went and tracked it down because my other Wine Wednesday partner in crime Clean Fresh Mommy is going to be featuring this one too today.
I ended up buying both {about $18 a bottle} the Malbec and the Shiraz. Last night however we tried the Melbec and liked it. It was a really good wine with lots of berry flavors, smooth, and a bit dry too.
I will admit that I am for some reason such a snob when it comes to screw tops. I prefer corks!
I guess it takes me back to the good old Boone's Farm and cheap wine days. Like when we {my best friends and I} would scrounge all our change together just to buy a bottle of of Strawberry wine and sit around listening to music, talking about boys and giggling all night long. Man I loved those days!
But I will say that I will be trying more screw tops if they catch my eye or have been recommend to me. The only thing with this is then I don't have a cork for my collection and if you have ever seen my collection you would be amazed....but hey I love collecting me some corks!

Okay, I know about shiraz.. tell me the diff between it and malbec?
So it was good, huh? Oh... on your previous post... Flanagan's? I didn't know they still existed (the one near my house where I grew up is closed). I have plenty of young adult memories in their bar... lol
Oooh, I'm going to have to try the malbec! As for the screw tops, it seems like a lot of the New Zealand and Australian wines are using them. I too was a bit wary of them, but I'm so in love with this region now that I can forgive them!
Screw tops always seem so weird to me. Dh and I were out to dinner once and ordered a $40 bottle of wine- I know, not exactly super fancy, but it wasn't the cheapest either, and it was a screw top. WTH?
I'll admit, a screw top would turn me off as well.
My husband brought me a bottle of wine from his last trip to France. He had to work there for a week. Anyway, it had screw top. I don't know much about wine, and I can't even open the bottles right. I like the bottle so I kept it because it's very interesting.
I'd love to go to a wine tasting festival. they have one once a year here in albuquerque, and it's free! :D
Oh the Boone Hill days! LOL!
I thought of you the other day. I am not a wine drinker. A friends of mine was coming over who did drink wine. I went to the store to buy a wine and had no clue what to buy. I was hoping one of the wines I have seen on your blog would jump out and grab me, no such luck. 2 aisles of wine! I had no idea there were so many! I thought of just grabbing a bottle of Boone hill for old times sake. I ended up leaving empty handed. Good thing she brought her own, she knows me too well.
I had a lot of corks...some chick took them to make me a trivet. I never got them or the trivet...
New collection is growing nicely though.
I have a wine for you to try but you have to order it since it can only be found here.
Where can did you find that wine! I've looked in every liquor store in my town and they dont carry it!
Screw caps are very normal on reds and more so on the Shiraz... they are becoming more popular every year.
